Labradoodles are so alluring that they seem to have a heavenly beginning. But their terrestrial origin is just as angelic.
In 1988, the first Labradoodle came about as a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. The breeder hoped to create an allergy-free guide dog for a visually impaired woman in Hawaii.
As you can tell, the resulting breed was a success! Labradoodles gained the serene and patient nature of the Labrador Retriever while keeping the shed-free coat of the poodle — making them ideal caretakers for allergy sufferers.
The breeder’s story also has a happy ending. One of the first Labradoodles helped guide the visually impaired Hawaiian woman for over 10 years.
Labradoodles came into this world as a source of guidance and companionship. And at Agape Labradoodles — located in the Denver, Colorado area — our dogs continue to bring joy and happiness to countless owners.
